My reading on IKEA’s founder prompted a little more research on the billionaire mind – and lifestyle. Its true that IKEA’s founder is the exception, rather than the rule for billionaires, but an article in Slate gives interesting insights into billionaire’s minds and lifestyles.

They pointed out that even billionaires who live large, still don’t have homes that kill the budget – not that they could. Based on Forbes’ analysis of billionaires, Warren Buffet has a home that was valued at $700,000 tops. One that he bought long ago for much less.

In fact, there are plenty of things some billionaires could buy, but don’t. So why be a billionaire? Slate indicated that it might be the money game that billionaires play. Winning means having more money. In some sense, that’s similar to the game I’m playing now. Except with large positive net worths, instead of a small negative one.

I guess the difference, is that I’ve started playing the game now. Here’s to positive numbers!
