I can think of a plethora of places you can drive to and camp and have a great time. You don't have camping stuff you say? That's fine, many of the same camp sites offer cheap cabins with all the essentials. For example, I'm just going to be finished paying-off my debt this January. Rather than going 'all-out' on a big vacation, I'm flying to Europe for $500 round-trip airfare courtesy of Orbitz and camping in a cabin at a local camp-site. How much is it for the week in total for airfare and cabin ... about $620 w/out tax. No that's a vacation on a budget and in Europe no less.
