Companies That Are Hiring Right Now
There’s so much bad news out there, it’s just too easy to get caught up in the accounts of layoffs (like I have) and forget to look for opportunities amidst the chaos. With that in mind, I’ve come up with a few companies that are showing openings in the midst of an economic meltdown.
Companies that are hiring now:
- Microsoft: They have recently announced layoffs, but also plans to hire thousands to help shore up their search engine capabilities, where they fall in third place to Google and Yahoo! They hire globally, but are based near Seattle, Washington.
- Amazon: Also based in Washington is Amazon.com. While other retailers are struggling, Amazon is actually doing well, listing hundreds of jobs, most in Seattle.
- Google: The search giant has laid off recently, mostly human resources staff to cool off their years long hiring spree. But dont’ fear, the big G is still hiring, showing hundreds of openings, many in Mountain View, California, but also all over the world.
- Ryder: Miami landed on a list of one of the 10 most miserable cities in one of the lists in my layoffs 2009 post, so I thought I’d post a company based there. They have over 100 corporate jobs at the time of this post, and likely plenty more around the country. If you’d like fries with that, Burger King is another Miami corporation that has dozens of corporate positions open.
- CH2M Hill: Don’t laugh at the name. This construction company is a growth machine, topping Inc. Magazine’s top 100 list for growth by gross dollars. They have over 100 jobs open around the US right now. Inc. Magazine’s list might be a good place to look for jobs, as all the companies have demonstrated recent growth, and with growth comes jobs.
That’s a short list, but it contains around a thousand jobs, and I specifically targeted corporate jobs that could lead to a career. If you keep your eyes open, you just might be able to find something in your area.
