BigCrumbs Review: Cash Back Shopping

By admin • Dec 31st, 2009 • Category: Reviews, frugal

BigCrumbs is a shopping portal that allows it’s members to get cash back when they shop online though the site with participating retailers.  That’s a pretty straightforward idea that’s been around for a while, but BigCrumbs has added several features on top of that basic concept to build a community for both shoppers and sellers [...]

By admin • May 6th, 2009 • Category: Giving, frugal

Here’s a very quick post about an absolute giveaway and a contest:

The Giveaway: Oprah, the generous multi-millionarire has teamed up with KFC to get everyone a free lunch.  The site has been overwhelmed with traffic and it’s quite the sensation on Twitter. What’s the catch?  Well, I don’t think there is one.  Oprah, is being [...]

A Month Away…

By admin • Apr 20th, 2009 • Category: frugal, taxes, thrift

I’ve been away from the blog for a month now, and that’s clearly not a good thing. The world of finance goes on, and so do my own personal finances. So what’s been keeping me so busy?

It’s Official: Annoying DTV Ads to Run Until June

By admin • Feb 12th, 2009 • Category: Government, frugal

You’ve seen the commercials. They often have a supporting actor from a current TV show or local news anchor talking to you about making the transition to digital television. The the single best way I’ve found to cut food costs is to make a menu. The problem I always seem to have is actually sitting down to *make* the menu, not to mention that both I and the spouse aren’t exactly thrilled with dinner decisions or the cooking. This week’s collection of five financial stories that caught my eye on social news site Afternoon Rally and other spots around the web.  Still, little good news in the economy with layoffs and retailers in jeopardy.

How frugal are you?  GLB Guy at Gather Little by little says he’s sort of frugal.  The post outlines all [...]

The Millionaires I Know

By admin • Jan 21st, 2009 • Category: Entrepreneurship, Net Worth, frugal, thrift

I know at least four millionaires. I’m pretty sure I know more, but I thought I’d outline those I know the most about. People aren’t exactly forthcoming with their money matters, so I’m having to speculate here, but I’m rather certain these four are loaded.

Five Frugal Foods (that are actually good for you)

By admin • Jan 20th, 2009 • Category: frugal, thrift

When trying to save money, it’s way to easy to fall into the cheap food trap. You know, the discount foods that often are over-processed, high in fat and low in fiber. They’re almost as bad as all those heavily-hyped health foods that offer little benefit at a high price. High-end health food stores offer healthy foods, but at a price that people on a budget can’t handle. So what can you eat without going broke?

When Paying Too Much Becomes an Art Form

By admin • Jan 19th, 2009 • Category: frugal, thrift

We’re all guilty of paying too much for something at one time or another. But just are there are overpriced gourmet lattes out there, there’s also kopi luwak, setting one back over 100 bucks a pound. Here’s a couple more examples of the ridiculously overpriced for your entertainment.

If you had millions of dollars, what would you buy? For some of us, the best answer might be “nothing.”
